Puppy Arcade - based on puppy linux 4.2 (NEW & IMPROVED)
Do you like Street Fighter? Donkey Kong Country? Metal Gear X? Gran Turismo? Yeah, me too!
'Puppy Arcade' comes in 3 flavours:
'Puppy Arcade' has everything required to play classic games/roms from Nintendo, SEGA, Sony, Capcom & more. (97MB)
'Puppy Arcade: GOffice' has all the above and also features the complete goffice suite and printing. (117MB)
'Puppy Arcade: OOffice' has all the above but replaces goffice with OpenOffice 2.2. (205MB)
In summary, the standard 'Puppy Arcade' (97MB) has no office suite. All versions feature lots of gaming emulators and are the same, except that the 'GOffice' version contains the 'goffice' suite (abiword, gnumeric, inkscape), while the 'OOffice' version features 'OpenOffice2.2' (base, calc, writer, impress & draw) instead.

Download - NOTE: All download links in this post are updated as required. Below are the latest versions.
Update for All Versions: An improved help file for all versions of Puppy Arcade (optional).
Download here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/u8kjdx - 4KB
_______________________________________________
All versions should be small enough to boot to RAM on most PCs, meaning a hard drive is not actually required and that once booted, you can remove Puppy Arcade from your CD/DVD drive, and replace it with a CD/DVD of all your roms, movies etc.
You can also carry Puppy Arcade on a bootable USB stick and play your favourite games on the move.
___________________________________________
ALL details below apply to ALL 3 versions of 'Puppy Arcade'
_____________________________________________
Packages: What's in? What's out?
Packages Added:
DosBox - dos in linux - play classic dos games
FakeNES - famicom/nes emulator, loads of options
FirePup - fastest FireFox around
Gens - best genesis/megadrive emulator
GXMAME - called 'arcade' on the desktop, emulates LOTS of arcade systems
MG - called 'sega' on the desktop. A MasterSystem/GameGear emulator (no frontend).
Mupen64Plus - N64 emulator (requires OpenGL)
pSX - excellent playstation emulator (requires OpenGL)
QEmu - boot any bootable ISOs within puppy linux
SNES9x - great snes emulator with netplay
VBA - called 'gba' on the desktop. A gameboy emulator (no frontend).
..plus all required libs (SDL, allegro, libcups.so.2, libGLU.so.1 etc)
Packages Removed:
Extra gtk, icewm and jwm themes
PERL and ndiswrapper,
PPPoE + Roaring Penguin
PSIP
Samba + pnethood
sane + xsane,
Seamonkey Suite,
..plus any extraneous apps with smaller alternatives (netsetup_retro, pbackup, etc)
Most emulators run without OpenGL, except Mupen64Plus and pSX, which DO require OpenGL.
NOTE: ePSXe doesn't need OpenGL in 'software' mode, and can be installed and used instead of pSX.
To enable OpenGL, you simply need to find the correct drivers for your card in the puppy repositories, then download and install the relevant .PET file. Then (optionally) follow the softwares' instructions and restart X.
PETS FOR NVIDIA CARDS:
nvidia-7186.pet for ancient nvidia graphics cards (riva TNT to Geforce 1).
nvidia-9643.pet for most nvidia cards (officially Gf2 to Gf4 but tested on Gf7 OK).
nvidia-100.14.19.pet for latest cards (Gf5 to Gf8).
If you STILL can't find what you are looking for, then try a search at http://pupplinux.ca
____________________________________________
Playing Roms:
For pSX, you'll need to download the psx bios file 'scph1001.bin' to '/usr/local/pSX/bios'. Then, if pSX still doesn't work, open ROX, make sure hidden files are visible and edit the file '/root/.psx/psx.ini', so that the 'PS1' option, found under '[BIOS]', points to the bios file you just added (case-sensitive).
The 'sega' and 'gba' emulators have no frontend, so 'drag and drop' roms onto their desktop icons to play.
If you want to compile any of the frontends available for these emulators, please do! I've had no luck.
_____________________________________________
Changing Icons:
You can change the icons theme by replacing icons found in '/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps'.
If you want to add any additional icons, or change emulator icons, use '/usr/share/pixmaps'.
_____________________________________________
Notes:
If you're booting on different PCs (maybe via USB stick) - you'll need to install the relevant drivers and 'restart X' on each PC you use, in order to make OpenGL work. This is only required to play roms using Mupen64Plus and pSX.
I have used FirePup (the default browser) as the 'default html-viewer', in order to have a working replacement for gtkmoz.
If anyone can get gtkmoz working again, without re-installing seamonkey, well done.. Tell me how!
_____________________________________________________________
Installation:
Please note that (for me, at least) the fastest, easiest and most reliable way to install this to a hard drive or USB stick is simply to copy the Live CD files to a bootable device or partition. This will create a frugal install.
_____________________________________________
Please leave your feedback, improvements and suggestions on this thread.
However for boot, install or dependency problems (and so on) you are STRONGLY advised to look elsewhere for help - where the real experts hang out.!! This is a very helpful forum, any bugs or problems you find in this puplet will probably already be solved and well-documented elsewhere, if you know where to look.
This version includes abiword and (accidentally) Nvidia FX5500 drivers, but is missing cups, printer drivers, httpd, gnumeric, inkscape, tcl/tk, gnocl and a few other things! It works great for gaming, but has a few minor bugs and issues elsewhere.
It's always recommended to download the latest versions, as they are first and foremost, bugfix releases.
_____________________________________________
Hope this documentation helps you out.
You can't own any bios or rom files of any consoles or games that you've never bought.
You've been warned, now have fun!
_____________________________________________
Anyway.. Hope you enjoy

PetchCMS lets users from a variety of social networks signup, login, add comments, contact other users, subscribe to your site and even auto-update other users via email.
This is a new kind of search engine, by a (slightly) famous physics guy, someone Wolfram. It's not really a search engine, more of an answer engine - give it word or phrase and get a load of scientific, mathmatical, statistical or technical data on the subject.
For example, search for 'spanish' to see loads of stats about spanish speakers and places.
This is a web-based website editor, powered by CSSfly.net, that allows you to edit cached versions of any websites, live, with the changes appearing in real time. This demo features our own website.
This plugin requires one option to be set - the URL (address) of the website to edit. Optionally, you can set the button text that launches the plugin, which defaults to 'Edit [URL]', if not set.
PetchCMS features a Form Manager in the admin panel, where you can build e-commerce forms and buttons, using custom PayPal 'buy it now', 'add to cart' and daily, weekly, monthly and yearly 'subscription' payment forms.
Here are some very useful tips and tricks that can help speed up the process of building various kinds of websites, setting up your PetchCMS for different purposes.
Create unique stylings within content blocks by making use of the unique CSS ID selectors in each layout module.
Every module has the same CSS ID format; here's the examples, where 288 is this content block's ID value: #c288, #c288header, #c288subHeader, #c288details, #c288img, #c28img
A further example:
To access this description in a stylesheet, you would use the following CSS code - #c288details{ CSS stuff here }
If you want to edit CSS styles for layouts, you can use the following CSS classes which are the same for all layouts:
cblock- the table containing all content titles, images etc
header - the header table cell, containing title and sub header
title - the title text, a link in the header
subHeader - the date, rating or price, in the header
img - the table cell containing the main image
details - contains the main content description
You can add the CSS classes listed above to any default stylesheet, or to the .css file matching the layout's name, found in the 'Layout' section of the File Manager.
Content that Fits in or Stands Out
This means you can use default styles for your content blocks defined in your sites style, or you can add persistent stylings in the layout .css file, which style layouts regardless of the default stylesheet.
The Backup Manager lets you save your database and your website so that you're free to make any changes to your lovely site, without worrying about messing it all up.
3 Click Backup - so easy and fast it's pointless explaining it
Optimise your database
Backup your database
Save your website and database to an archive then download it, if you like
Restore your website - get your site back the way you like it
Restore the database running your website to its previously saved version
Restore the files used in your website to their previously restored versions
The Review Manager shows you all the comments and ratings added through the review forms (created in the Form Manager), added to your site. Reviews are split into 2 groups: page reviews and content reviews.
Quick Review Search - quickly browse and search reviews
Sort reviews how you like - newest to oldest, by user etc
Limit your search to specific reviews - show only reviews for specific pages or content blocks
Page Reviews - from review forms added in your Page Manager
Check out reviews for your pages as a whole, if enabled
Limit your search to specific pages only
